LabTimer is a versatile count-up and count-down multi-timer designed with the needs of laboratory professionals in mind.

The interface of LabTimer has been thoughtfully crafted to mimic standard lab timers, ensuring easy access to count-down timers and repeated runs. However, LabTimer is not limited to laboratory use; it is also suitable for cooking, medication management, workout sessions, and managing child timeouts.

LabTimer boasts the following features:

• Four timers, each with individual configuration for count-up and count-down modes
• Large display and user-friendly buttons
• Time displayed in Hours:Minutes:Seconds format (supports limit above 1000 hours)
• Ability to customize text labels for each timer
• Small icons indicating the status of all timers
• Disables iPod sleep mode, ensuring continuous visibility and operation of the timers
• Meticulously designed to meet the laboratory requirements of molecular biologists

For count-down timers specifically:

• The projected finish time is displayed
• An alarm sounds one minute before completion
• After the alarm, the elapsed time since completion is displayed in red
• The last count-down can be easily repeated by pressing clear while the timer is paused or by pressing start/stop twice after completion

Currently, due to restrictions on background processes imposed by the iPhone, LabTimer cannot alarm if the application is not actively running. However, you can lock the screen while timers are active. The alarm sound plays without interrupting any music playback, allowing uninterrupted use of noise-isolating headphones during lengthy incubation periods. We kindly remind users to conduct experiments responsibly.

While there are numerous timers and stopwatches available on the App Store, we found that none fully met our needs or those of our laboratory colleagues. We now exclusively rely on LabTimer and we encourage you to do so as well.

LabTimer is currently free and will remain so indefinitely. However, we have also developed LabTimerPhD, a paid version that offers identical features. By contributing to LabTimerPhD, you can support our ongoing development efforts. We believe this model of handling donations is intriguing, as we have not seen it elsewhere in the marketplace. :)
